Mabel I. Esckilsen, 90, of Cass City, died following a short illness Sunday, October 12, 2014 in Tendercare Nursing Facility Cass City. She was born May 10, 1924 at home in Columbia Township to Herman and Olga (Killinger) Sarow. She married John Adam Rosenstangel June 15, 1940. He died June 25, 1991 after 51 years of marriage. She later she married Theron B. Esckilsen at the courthouse in Caro.
In addition to being a mother and farm wife, Mable was employed at the Kroger Grocery Store in Caro as a clerk for over 26 years. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville and their Ladies Aid group. Mabel enjoyed working in her flower gardens and doing needlework including counted cross stitch. She truly loved and enjoyed her family.
Mabel is survived by her husband, Theron; children: Brenda Healy of Saginaw, Karen (Michael) Perry of Saginaw, Kenneth (Liz) Rosenstangel of Saginaw, James (Kathy) Rosenstangel of Caro; step children: Joanne Hopper of Cass City, Karen (Dave) Gaffney of Saginaw, Stephen (Karen) Esckilsen of Saginaw; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Fred Sarow; sister, Elizabeth Sarow; son-in-law, William Healy and step son-in-law, Kim Hopper.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Steve Stolarczyk of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Unionville officiating. Interment will be in Columbia Township Cemetery, Unionville. Memorials may be made to Cass City VFW Post #3644.
