Gertrude C. Erla, 73, of Cass City, died Tuesday, December 16, 2003 in St. Marys Medical Center, Saginaw. She was born July 29, 1930 in Hamtramck to John and Genevieve (Kowalski) Erla. Gertie never married.

Growing up, Gertie helped her mom with the care of and meals for her 11 brothers and sisters. Her favorite pastime was watching the weather. She made many calls and visits to TV5 with reports of our area weather. Gertie has battled several illnesses in the last few years, overcoming many. She loved to have chicken dinners in Frankenmuth. She was a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church.

Gertie is survived by her brothers and sisters: Florence (Stanley) Pijanowski of Fairhaven, Richard “Dick” (Chris) Erla of Cass City, Lorraine Klimas of Sterling Heights, Delphine McKillop of Imlay City, Dan (Marlene) Erla of Cass City, Don (Mary Lou) Erla of Cass City, Chuck (Agnes) Erla of Cass City, Doris (Tom) Sieland of Marietta, GA, Arnold (Sharon) Erla of Cass City, Marilyn Erla of Cass City, Clark (Pat) Erla of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by an infant sister; her parents; brothers-in-law: Ted Klimas and Eugene McKillop.

Funeral service to be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2003 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Cass City with Rev. Steve Fillion officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Pancratius Catholic Church. Gertie is to be buried in Elkland Township Cemetery with her parents.

VISITATION: 2 TO 5 AND 7 TO 9 P.M. THURSDAY
10 TO 11 A.M. FRIDAY, IN CHURCH
