DOUGLAS ALBERT ENGLEHART
71, of Cass City died following a lengthy illness Monday, February 8, 2021 in Ascension Genesys Hospital of Grand Blanc. He was born September 26, 1949 to Albert Donald and Eunice May (DeLong) Englehart. He married Debra Schaper on November 14, 1975 in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Linkville.
Doug attended Deford Elementary and Cass City schools. He was employed by General Motors Saginaw Steering Gear Plant for 30 years until retiring. Doug used his mechanic skills to tune up and work on race cars at the Silver Bullet Speedway in Owendale. He enjoyed time spent perch fishing in the Sebewaing area.
Together, Doug and Debra attended many estate sales and flea markets where Doug did all the talking. A religious man, he could recite numerous Bible verses. Doug loved all animals and would pick up strays to help find them a home. His favorite animal was his beloved Sheltie, Toby, who is still waiting at the door for Doug to return home.
Doug is survived by his wife, Debra; son, Ralph (Cathy) Englehart; daughter, Jamie Englehart; grandchildren: Emmah, Isabelah; brothers: Donald (Barbara) Englehart of Deford; Duane (Sue) Englehart of Caro; Delbert Englehart of Burnside; Dallas Englehart of Burnside; sisters: Virginia Elaine (William) Denby of Marysville; Vivian (Lee) Bracey of IN. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Novesta Church of Christ, Cass City with Brad Speirs officiating. Interment in Novesta Township Cemetery.
