BETTY RUTH ELDRIDGE,
81, of Kingston died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in her home. She was born February 6, 1938 in Montgomery, Alabama to Brady Lee and Louise (Pope) Sasser. She married William Elliott Eldridge on December 11, 1954 in her aunt's home in Alabama.
Betty worked as a waitress in King’s Café in Columbus, GA where she met William while he was stationed in Fort Benning. They moved to Ohio where they started their family, eventually moving to Michigan.
Betty worked on the line for Pontiac Motors for about ten years. She loved playing cards, double pinochle and euchre were her favorites. She enjoyed BINGO and jigsaw puzzles. Betty was a good cook, her homemade biscuits and gravy were a family treat. She crocheted many rugs for her family.
Betty is survived by her children: Barbara (James) Dudek of Fairgrove; Beverly Eldridge of Kingston; Bryan (Jill) Eldridge of Kingston; Belinda Eldridge of Kingston; Bridgett Eldridge of Warren; grandchildren: Stephanie (Art) Bernia, Jessica (Dan) Murphy, Amanda (Keith) VanHorn, Gabriel (Tracy Featherly) Denniston, Crystal Denniston, Brady (Andrea) Eldridge, Andrea (Chris Tanner) Eldridge; great grandchildren: Sy Bernia, Kent Bernia, Emmaline Murphy, Ethan Murphy, Elliott Murphy, Chase Denniston, Hunter Denniston, Carter Denniston, Connor Eldridge; sisters: Sallie (Gene) Kennedy of Columbus, GA; Geraldine (Joe) Saxon of Columbus, GA; brother, Brady Lee Sasser, Jr. of Columbus, GA; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister; Martha Anderson.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Pastor Len Wyatt of Kingston Wesleyan Church officiating.
