DUANE ELWYN HENN
Duane E. Henn, 79, of Cass City died Friday evening, November 22, 2024 in Covenant Healthcare, Saginaw. He was born February 7, 1945 in Brown City to Frank and Helen (Lobstein) Henn. He married Nancy Marie Gusta on July 22, 1972 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Brown City.
Duane graduated from Brown City High School in 1963. He went to work briefly for Pontiac Motors before enlisting in the U.S. Army National Guard. Following his military commitment, Duane began his career with Detroit Edison and retired over thirty years later as a Field Foreman and Journeyman Line Man. In his younger years, he raced snowmobiles and cars in Sault Ste. Marie. Duane was an avid golfer and enjoyed deer, pheasant, and duck hunting. He also fished for walleye and perch at Drummond Island. Together, Duane and Nancy loved spending time at their cabin in Atlanta where riding four wheelers was always an adventure. Family trips were a once-a-year event. He and Nancy extensively traveled the United States. They enjoyed Alaska so much that they once stayed for three months. Hawaii was another favorite location and they spent an entire month there. Duane was a past president of the Cass City Gavel Club, an advisor to the Tuscola Technology Center, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Central Thumb Council # 8892. He was an Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor for forty-five years.
Duane is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Nancy; his children: Heather Campbell of Frostproof, FL; Shawn (Christina) Henn of Potterville, Cyndi Henn of Charlotte; grandchildren: Tristen Campbell, Reese Campbell, Brandt DePatty, Callie Henn, Abigail Henn; and first great granddaughter, Emma Rose Campbell on the way soon; sister, Margene (Ronald) Scott of Brown City; brother, Larry (DeAnn) Henn of Williamston; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with his nephew, Pastor Michael Henn officiating. Military honors conducted by the Cass City VFW Post # 3644 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Brown City. The Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.
