 DONALD WILLIAM WARNER

Donald W. Warner, 81, of Cass City, died Thursday, May 30, 2024 in McLaren Bay Special Care, Bay City.   He was born December 30, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to George Rogan and Helen Anna (Ehrhard) Warner. He married Kay Raney-Bathe on June 21, 1983 in Tuscola County.

Don studied mechanical engineering at the University of Missouri at Rolla.  He worked for Carter Carburetor in St. Louis and transferred to Detroit as the representative engineer for Carter at Ford Motor Company. Don received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering several years later from Lawrence Tech in Detroit.  Together, Don and Kay moved to Cass City in May of 1982 when he took an engineering position with Walbro Corporation.  He obtained many patents during his time at Walbro before retiring in 2006.  Don later returned to Walbro for a brief period before completely retiring.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter; however, he was most passionate about playing golf.  When Don still lived in St. Louis, he dreamed of turning pro.  His buddies at Rolling Hills can attest to his golfing abilities and his love/hate relationship of the game.  Don was a former member of the Cass City Lions Club and regularly attended Novesta Church of Christ.

Don is survived by the “love of his life”, Kay Warner; son, Bill Warner of Powers; daughter, Dana (Kurt) Hompstead of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren:  Nick (Abby) Andersen of AL, Jessica (Eric) Andersen of GA, Noah Andersen of GA; great granddaughter, Makayla; one great grandson on the way; brother, Mark (Gwen) Molter of MO; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews all of MO.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce Molter; two unborn children.

Respecting Donald’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Memorial service held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Novesta Church of Christ with Brad Speirs officiating. Following the service cookies and refreshments will be provided and time to visit with the family.
