Don G. Tonti

  Don G. Tonti, 87, of Cass City, formerly of Sand Point, died Friday, April 26, 2024 in Northwood Meadows of Cass City. He was born February 21, 1937 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Guy Joseph and Martha (Vosovic) Tonti. Don was fortunate to find and marry two great loves of his life. He married Germaine Louise Mattson, his wife of fifty-three years. She died August 19, 2014. He later married Linda Gray on May 21, 2016 in Our Lady Consolata, Cass City. 
  Don graduated from Midland High School of Midland, PA in 1954. He was drafted into service with the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Wayne State University and later a Master’s Degree of Science Administration from Central Michigan University. Don worked at the ticket desk for United Airlines and in marketing and ticket sales for the Detroit Cougars Soccer Team. He was the negotiator for labor relations as the Director of Human Resources while employed at Walbro Corporation of Cass City for fifteen years. Don went on to work as a consultant for former Governor Blanchard and later for Mackie Automotive Systems, during this same time he was also an adjunct professor, teaching at Saginaw Valley State University for ten years. Don was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Central Thumb Council #8892. He served as past Chairman of the Board of Hills & Dales General Hospital and was a past member of the Saginaw Choral Society. Don actively attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish of Caseville and more recently, Our Lady Consolata Parish, Cass City. He was a strong supporter and follower of Cass City Sports. Don loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching all of their high school and collegiate sporting events. He enjoyed sitting with young people and listening to their hopes and dreams. Traveling was also a favorite activity, especially to Europe and Italy.
     Don is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Nancy (Randy) Genord of Rochester; sons:  Craig (Kristyn) Tonti of Rochester, Lari Tonti of Orange Beach, AL; grandchildren:  Jessica (Adam) Pacheco of Rochester, Dane (Sarah) Genord of Kansas City, KS; Ryan Genord of Philadelphia, PA; Drew Tonti of Detroit, Madelyn Tonti of Rochester; five great grandchildren:  Cole, Cade, Chase, Emmy, Palmer; step sons:  Bradley Gray of Lake Orion, Andrew (Kim) Gray of Cass City; step grandchildren:  Emma, Spencer, Kalee, Kacee; sister, Marti Kasovac of Phoenix, AZ; brothers: Lari (Iris) Tonti of Chino Hills, CA; Guy (Elizabeth) Tonti, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his sister, Dani (Ken) Johnson; brother-in-law, Dr. Mitchell Kasovic.  
  Funeral mass held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024 in our Lady Consolata Parish, Cass City with Fr. Robert Pare officiating.  Interment in St. Roch Cemetery, Caseville.  Memorials may be made to the Cass City
