Delphine M. Dillon, 84, of Cass City, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 in United Hospice of Marlette Residence, Marlette. She was born March 1, 1930 at home in Unionville the second of seven children of Earl and Velta Lena (Sontag) Stock. She married L.J. Francis Dillon September 4, 1948 in St. Agatha Catholic Church, Gagetown. He died May 5, 1988.
As a young woman Delphine worked at Montague Hotel in Caro. After her marriage she helped at Dillon's General Store in Colwood. She was a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church. She loved to cook, watch cooking programs on television and looking through recipe books. Delphine always put others first, she focused on their needs before her own. In later years the telephone became her best friend and connection to her family and friends.
Delphine is survived by her children: Kay (Tom) Guinther of Cass City, Steven (Iris) Dillon of Irving, TX, Dean (Carrie) Dillon of Krum, TX, Dennis Dillon of Unionville; grandchildren: Jennifer Walters, Kerry Guinther, Amanda (Daniel) Sherman, Sheena (J.D.) Love, Jessica (Daniel) Mareno, Leland Dillon, Marissa Dillon, Kendra Dillon; great grandchildren: Courtney, Jordan, Skylar, T.J., Landon, Jovi, Gavin, Cohen, McKenna, Miley; sisters: Donna Schember of Caro, June Markert of Englewood, FL, Barbara Wald of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Terry Dillon in l986; infant sister, Nira; brother, Harlan Stock; sister, Connie Armbruster.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Bala and Sr. Maria Dina Puddu, MC, officiating. Interment will be in St. Agatha Cemetery, Gagetown. Pallbearers for Mrs. Dillon: Randy Baker, Tim Wald, Michael Lafave, Jerry Lamoureux, Mark Atkin and Butch Baker. Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Marlette Residence Center or Family Discretionary Fund.
