Mary E. D’Hooghe, 88, of Clinton Township, long time resident of Mushroom Road, Deford, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 23, 2002 in St. Joseph Hospital, Clinton Township. She was born October 29, 1914 in Detroit to Charles H. and Mathilda (Deubel) D’Hooghe. Mary never married.
Mary worked for many years in Grosse Pointe and Detroit as a Housekeeper. She loved animals and all wildlife, including horses, cats and birds. She made sure the birds were fed each day. Mary was very independent, never complained, leading a simple but hardworking life.
Mary is survived by several second cousins including: Leonard and Crystal Brohl of Sterling Heights and David Brohl of East Pointe. She is preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers: Alphonse D’Hooghe and Charles H. D’Hooghe, Jr.
Funeral services held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Sr. Ruth Adamites of St. Michael Church, Wilmot officiating. Interment is in St. Michael Cemetery, Wilmot. Memorials may be made to Tuscola County Humane Society.
