John Dettloff, 76, of Cass City, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 in Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cass City after a long illness. He was born June 28, 1926 in Detroit, to John and Rose (Schneider) Dettloff. He married Theresa A. Curtis in 1944. She died in 1976. He then married Agnes E. Metzger Tait March 16, 1979 in Brown City.
John worked many years for Cadillac Gauge in Detroit and Vlasic in Imlay City. His greatest love was carpentry. John worked for himself building and repairing. Later he worked as a part time carpenter helping senior citizens with repairs around their homes.
John is survived by his wife, Agnes; children: Ron (Judy) Dettloff of St. Clair Shores, Pam (Don) Syme of Chesterfield, Michael (Karen) Dettloff of North Carolina; step-children: Scott (Tracey) Tait of North Branch, Colin (Shannon) Tait of Grand Blanc, Pamela Marshall of Roswell, GA, Vicky (Scott) Fox of Mayville, Lisa (Rodney) Colson of Larenceville, GA; son-in-law, Raymond Wilson of Cass City; 9 grandchildren; many step grandchildren; great grandchildren; step great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister, Nancy (Don) Wilson of Euclid, OK; brother, Norm (Shirley) Dettloff of GA; sister-in-law, Julie Dettloff of Humble, TX. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; daughter, Judy Ann Wilson; brothers: Donald Dettloff and Howard Dettloff.
Funeral services held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor J.T. Mabe of Mizpah Missionary Church officiating. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund. Interment is in East Dayton Cemetery, Caro.
Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m., Monday
2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday
