Denise Ann Hallwood

DENISE ANN HALLWOOD   

Denise A. Hallwood, 64, of Bad Axe, formerly of Cass City, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 28, 2023 in McLaren Bay Region Hospital, Bay City.  She was born March 4, 1959 in Dearborn to Fred and Juliette (LaJoie) Barker.     

Denise graduated from Cass City High School with the Class of 1977.  She was employed by Dr. Kim as a nurse’s assistant, Wildwood Restaurant as a server, and Walbro in customer service for over twenty-five years.  She enjoyed shopping, tending to her flower gardens, decorating her house, and completing puzzles during the winter months.  Denise was a member of the Caro Chapter 940 Women of the Moose and volunteered at the Thumb Octagon Barn during the Fall Family Days.  She loved her social life and was the last person to leave any gathering.  Denise’s compassion for others and willingness to help anyone will be her legacy. Her ability to create and forge friendships with those she just met was her hallmark and testament to her genuineness. She strived for those near to her to find comfort and ease. In this effort she was often heard saying, “I have an oil for that.”  She treasured being a grandmother and cherished friendships with so many. She was truly one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed.

Denise is survived by sons:  Garen (Dawn) Hallwood of Goodrich, Matt (Emily Wiedmaier) Hallwood of Plymouth; her mother, Juliette (Howard Kelly) Patterson of Cass City; sisters:  Donna Martin of Cass City, Debbie (Paul) Langlois of Gagetown; grandson, Cooper Hallwood of Goodrich; granddaughter, Delaney Connors of Bad Axe; nephew, Christopher (Jennica Richards) Binder of Kentwood; god-daughters:  Natalie Hallwood of Fenton, Evelynn Kerr of Bad Axe;  her long-time special friend, Patrick Rooney of Bad Axe.   

Visitation held Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 3 to 7 p.m. in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.   A celebration of Denise’s life will take place at a later date.
