ELDON EVERETT DENHOFF,
91, of Kingston, died following a long illness Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro. He was born May 4, 1918 in Kingston to Albert and Ina (Everett) Denhoff. He married Laura “Aneita” Green August 24, 1943 in Cass City.
Eldon owned and operated his dairy farm until his retirement. He then worked for Ted Froede Building doing carpenter work for about 10 years. Eldon also helped Fred Ruggles after he sold him the farm. Eldon was a very active member of Kingston United Methodist Church and a member of the Caro Masons where he was recently awarded the Longevity Award. He enjoyed bowling and deer hunting. He would recall many of his hunting trips to the Upper Peninsula before the Mackinac Bridge and talked of the times waiting in the long lines for the ferry to carry them across. After the cows were gone, Eldon began playing with the Kingston Golf League.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Aneita; children: Betty (Bill) Stark of Beaver Creek, OR, Albert (Marilyn) Denhoff of East Tawas, Mary (Joseph) Kortis of Bella Vista, AR, Carrie (Irv) Gilley of Kingston; grandchildren: Steve (Jaymi) Stark, Brian (Rhonda) Denhoff, Bethany Denhoff, Julie (Randy) Hipps, Chris Kortis, Jeff (Lisa) Kortis, Kate Gilley, Adam Gilley; great grandchildren: Kenneth, Cole, Kyle, Colin, Allison, Laura, Amber, Sarah, Logan; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Marjory Denhoff Green; granddaughter, Jill Stark.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in Kingston United Methodist Church with Rev. Margaret Passenger officiating. Interment will be in Indianfields Township Cemetery, Caro. Pallbearers for Mr. Denhoff: Adam Gilley, Brian Denhoff, Jim Green, Keith Richter, Ray Wolak and Fred Ruggles. Memorials may be made to Kingston United Methodist Church.
