DEBRA LYNN SUTHERLAND
Debra L. Sutherland, 69, of Ubly unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024 in her home. She was born on November 19, 1955 in Pontiac. A lifelong resident of Michigan and was the youngest of seven children born to Clare and Thomasina Moshier. A devoted wife to Parcus Sutherland. They were married on April 10, 1972 in Pontiac. Together they had one daughter, Michelle Lynn Chandler.
Deb had a nickname given to her by her first grandchild that soon became her permanent alias, “DOBIE”. Dobie was passionate about her home, gardening, and especially her love for the great outdoors. She enjoyed camping in the U.P. and hunting deer and bear. She was known for being an excellent cook. Dobie loved trying new recipes and feeding “her people”. She was a lifelong member of ABATE Region 7 and was forever proud of her chili cook off trophy. Dobie was a unique person who rarely met someone she didn’t call a friend. She will be missed by anyone that met her and loved her.
Debra is survived by her husband Parcus; daughter, Michelle (Wayne) Chandler; three grandchildren: Robin (Alishea) Sutherland, Karie Sutherland, Alex Sutherland; six great grandchildren; sister, Sandra Moshier; brother, Robert Moshier; numerous nieces and nephews; many special longtime friends that were considered family. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Sean; sister, Patricia; three brothers: Don, Jim, and Daniel “Doc” Moshier; her very special dog, Izzy.
A celebration of Debra’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Gilligan’s Restaurant, Cass City. In lieu of flowers, a donation box will be available and a lifetime of pictures (condensed of course). There will be a toast to her at 6:00 p.m. celebrating the Grand Poobah.
