NINA DOROTHY DAVIS,
88, of Cass City, died following a short illness Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Covenant Medical Center Cooper Campus, Saginaw. She was born July 14, 1930 in Canandaigua, NY to Antonio and Mary (Catalfamo) Maio.
Following her graduation from High School Nina worked for Commercial Cord Company in Clifton Springs, New York. She was offered a job with General Cable in Cass City. Nina took the job and moved to Cass City making this her home. She worked for General Cable for nearly 49 years retiring as a Senior Accountant when they closed the plant. Nina was a member of Our Lady Consolata Parish St. Pancratius Catholic Church since her move to Cass City. She was very active in the church with Faith Formation youth classes. She was Sacristan for masses for many years. Nina sang in the church choir, served on worship committee, was responsible for training altar servers and was always very supportive and encouraging of the youth at St. Pancratius. Nina also organized a monthly card club for women at the church.
As a very active community member, Nina enjoyed her trips to the casino so much she organized many trips to Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant. She was active with United Way for many years. Nina is a longtime member of Hills & Dales Hospital Auxiliary serving many hours in the hospital gift shop. Nina was a sweet, giving, caring woman who always smiled when you saw her. She loved people and loved her coffee group at Gilligans. Nina was honored as Cass City Citizen of the Year in 1992. Nina was a longtime member of Cass City Women’s club the former Cass City Business and Professional Women’s Club
Nina is survived by her son, Tony Davis and fiancé, Theresa Turri of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Aaron Lajoie; siblings: Frances Hall, Sally Evangelista, Rocco Maio, Dominica Brink, Mary Maio, Frank Maio, Joseph Maio, Teresa Walker.
Funeral service held 1 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Cass City with Rev. Adam Maher officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua, NY. Memorials may be made to the Our Lady Consolata Parish St. Pancratius Catholic Church.
