David Allan Whittaker

 DAVID ALLAN WHITTAKER 

 David A. Whittaker, 62, of Cass City died Thursday, January 23, 2025 in Adira Nursing and Rehab in Saginaw. He was born on December 18, 1962 in Cass City to Gerald Raymond and Ruth Ann (Merchant) Whittaker. 

 In 1981, David graduated from Cass City High School, where he had played football for four years. He also showed Quarter Horses all over Michigan and parts of Canada while in 4-H and the Blue Water Pleasure Horse Association. He earned enough blue ribbons to have a quilt made with them. David worked as a logger for his father’s business. When Gerald retired, David continued the business as Whittaker Timber Corporation. He served on the board of the Michigan Association of Timbermen. He enjoyed reading, watching western movies, attending his children’s activities and following Detroit sports teams. 

 David is survived by his children: Andrew Whittaker of Sebewaing; Tyler Whittaker of Gagetown; Bradley (Ashley) Whittaker of Cass City; Sarah (Jaden) Coe of Detroit; mother, Ruth Whittaker of Cass City; siblings: Ann (David) Borger of Simi Valley, CA; Becky Rasdale of Dewitt; Colleen Whittaker of Traverse City; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Whittaker. 

 Memorial service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2025 in Colwood Church, Caro with Pastor Randy Carpenter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Andrew Whittaker for the benefit of the family. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery in the spring.
