Daniel Aleksink, Sr., 97, of Cass City, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002 in Hills and Dales General Hospital. He was born September 3, 1905 in Kabrin, Russia to Roman and Millie (Nazaruk) Aleksink. He married Catherine Henzarek September 17, 1927 in Caro. She died May 21, 1996.
Daniel moved to the United States at the age of 10 from Russia with his family. He lived in Detroit before moving to Cass City to farm.
Daniel is survived by his children: Pauline Popa of Troy, Daniel Aleksink Jr. of Cass City; grandsons: George (Linda) Popa Jr. of Nashville, TN, David Popa of West Bloomfield; great-granddaughter, Isabella Popa; brother, Anthony (Olga) Aleksink of Cass City. Daniel is preceded in death by his brother, Peter Aleksink; son-in-law, George Popa.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place in Sunset Valley Crematory, Bay City.
