Dale Damm

April 10, 1932 — March 18, 2014

DALE LeROY DAMM,
81, of Cass City, died following a lingering illness Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Heather Hill Hospice, New Port Richey, FL. He was born April 10, 1932 in Saginaw to Leonard Samuel and Laura Sarah (Haist) Damm. He married Mary Elizabeth McClorey August 26, 1953 in the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Cass City.

Dale served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, serving one year in Germany. After returning from the service Dale began working with his Dad at Leonard Damm and Son. He took over in 1956 and ran the store until it closed in 1979. Dale then worked for the Cass City Chronicle for seven years. He later worked for Hardees from the opening until the restaurant closed in 1995. Dale helped at Little's Funeral Home for many years. He was a member of Cass City United Methodist Church. Dale played basketball in high school and always enjoyed watching the Detroit Pistons games. He and Mary vacationed in Florida at their home in Holiday for over 15 years. Dale enjoyed traveling, taking many trips with friends including the Roger and Bev Little, John Haire and Buck Rabideau. Dale was a member of Cass City VFW Post #3644 and a former member of Cass City Lions Club, White Creek Club and Cass City Fire Department. He also enjoyed bowling.

Dale is survived by his wife, Mary; children: Randy (Carmen) Damm of Cass City, Rick Damm of Pinellas, FL, Susan (Tim) Wooster of Flint; grandchildren: Jason Lee (Elizabeth) Damm, Ethan Damm; great granddaughter, Evelyn; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Johnston.

Memorial service held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Jackie Roe of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Military honors under the direction of U.S. Army and Cass City VFW Post#3644. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church or Cass City VFW Post #3644. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
