Clare Clifford Daley, 81, of Deford, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, in his home after a long illness. He was born February 9, 1921 at home in Richmondville, Sanilac County to James and Amy (Green) Daley. He married Betty Ann Robison April 2, 1949 at home in Sanilac County. They have lived in Deford for the last 40 years.
Mr. Daley served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a cattle and crop farmer for many years. He later worked for Chrysler for nearly 20 years retiring in 1983. Clare enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and watching football games.
Clare is survived by his wife, Betty; children: Jeanne (Thomas) O’Dell of Caro, James (Kathy) Daley of Kingston, Joyce (Tim) Willis of Deford; grandchildren: Aaron, Ryan, Wade, Alicia and Emily; sister, Shirley Westphal of Port Sanilac; sisters-in-law: Wanda Daley of Detroit, Marion Barber of Farwell, Janet Robison of Port Sanilac; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Edwin; brothers: Roy Daley and Edwin Daley.
Funeral services held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Stuart Roy officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Military service under the direction of Cass City VFW Post #3644. Memorials may be made to the United Hospice of Marlette. Pallbearers for Mr. Daley: Aaron Daley, Ryan Willis, Wade Daley, Phil Daley, Gary Daley and Bob Barber.
