HETTIE MAUD CURRY
Hettie M. Curry, 95, of Caro, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility following a brief illness. She was born April 30, 1912 in Kingston to Elmer and Laura (Legg) Thorp. She married Carl Curry January 15, 1933 in Caro. He died August 16, 1970.
Hettie worked for Quality House Draperies in Marlette for 12 years doing custom sewing. She was a member of Kingston Wesleyan Church. Hettie loved to crochet, knit and quilt. She made some of the most beautiful quilts and was quilting well into her 90’s.
Hettie is survived by her children: Betty (Virgil) Vandemark of Caro, Ruth (James) Martin of Cass City, Berton (Lucy) Curry of Caro; grandchildren: Terry (Mary) Vandemark, Daniel (Dawn) Vandemark, Randy (Paula) Vandemark, Lisa (Brian) Sieggreen, Judy Martin, Steve Martin, Chris (Michelle) Martin, Suzanne (Chad) Larsen, Patrick (Jodi) Curry; 19 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rowena Thorp; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by grandson, Scott Martin; great grandson, Charles Vandemark; brothers: Ambrose Thorp, Paul Thorp, Duane Thorp and Delphin Thorp; sisters: Mary Warren, Susie Laline Francis, and Nelda Osgerby.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 in Kingston Wesleyan Church with Pastor Len Wyatt officiating. Interment will be in Indianfields Township Cemetery, Caro. Pallbearers for Mrs. Curry: Terry Vandemark, Daniel Vandemark, Randy Vandemark, Chris Martin, Patrick Curry, Brian Sieggreen. Memorials may be made to Kingston Wesleyan Church.
