Dale E. Cummings, 62, of Kingston, died January 9, 2004 surrounded by his family in Covenant Health Care-Cooper, Saginaw. He was born March 22, 1941 in Brown City to Eugene and Virginia (Houghteling) Cummings. He married Judy McPhail January 10, 1970 in Caro.

Dale started working at General Motors. He later worked field tiling with his father. The majority of his career was spent in construction work, which allowed him to work with several family members. He was an avid sports fan, especially Nascar and Dale Earnhardt. Dale was a big fan of the Detroit Redwings, Michigan Wolverines “Go Blue” and Detroit Pistons. His favorite pastimes were playing cards such as euchre, cribbage and poker and other games like blooper ball and pool, for which he has many trophies. He liked the outdoors and ice fishing, hunting, camping in his travel trailer, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. But most of all his family was very important to him.

Dale is survived by his wife, Judy; children: Deborah (Rock) Proctor of Kingston, James (Elizabeth) Cummings of Cowpens, SC, Debra Cummings of Ferndale, WA, Cheryl Luckett of Tipton, OK, Daryl (Tamara) Cummings of Caro and his dog, Little Nicky; grandchildren: Rocky Lee and Jenny Proctor, Corey McEldowney, Katie and Cody Cummings, Ashley, Chance and Kendall Luckett, Brandon and Coty Cummings; great grandchild, Bo Michelson; siblings: Norma (Ernie) Campbell of Kingston, Elton (Joann) Cummings of Caro, Nancy (Dennis) Seiler of Deckerville, Connie (Melvin) Witkovsky of Caro, Larry (Rita) McPhail of Decker, Donald (Sharon) McPhail of Kingston, Mary McPhail of Sandusky; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Maggie Joyce Proctor and parents: Eugene (Delilah) Cummings and Virginia (Leon “Keith”) Fockler.

Funeral services held 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2004 at Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Rev. Terry Butters of Kingston United Methodist Church officiating. Interment is in East Dayton Township Cemetery, Caro. Memorials may be made to the Dale Cummings Memorial Fund. Pallbearers for Mr. Cummings: Larry McPhail, Don McPhail, Brandon Cummings, Rocky Lee Proctor, Bryan Campbell, Kevin Seiler, Michael Cummings, and Wade Campbell.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004
2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2004
