LESSEL IRENE CRAWFORD,
96, of Rochester Hills, formerly of Cass City, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in the Hospice Unit of Beaumont Hospital, Troy. She was born the middle child of eleven April 28, 1915 at home on Crawford Road in Deford to Clayton and Anna (Handley) Crawford.
Lessel graduated from Cass City High School in 1933. After graduation she moved to the Pontiac area. She started working for Land America Title Company where she continued working until her retirement. Lessel came home to Deford every weekend to help her parents. She enjoyed many vacations with her sister, Marion McClorey, including trips to Nova Scotia, California, Florida and Arizona. Lessel was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pontiac for over 50 years.
Lessel is survived by sisters-in-law:JoAnne Crawford of Caro, Onalee Crawford of Caro; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers: Arthur Crawford, Glen Crawford, Clare Crawford, Bill Crawford, Lewis Crawford, Norman Crawford, Harry Crawford, Milton Crawford; sisters: Marian McClorey and Mabel McComb.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor David Hill of First Baptist Church of Cass City officiating. Interment will be in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American House Senior Residence or American Cancer Society.
