MICHAEL THOMAS CORCORAN,
84, of Cass City died following a short illness, Saturday, January 26, 2019 in Medilodge Nursing Facility, Cass City. He was born December 6, 1934 in Ferndale to Theobald and Lavena Jane (Nestell) Corcoran. He married Geraldine Mae Rasmussen January 27, 1958 in Indianapolis, IN.
Mike served with the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. For the greater part of his working life, Mike owned and operated and was a self-employed auto mechanic at Corcoran Service in Ferndale. In 1983 Mike and Geraldine began visiting Florida on a regular basis moving fulltime in 2003. During their time there, Mike worked for the Philadelphia Phillies baseball organization during spring training in Clearwater. Also, in Clearwater, Mike worked as a school crossing guard for the Clearwater School District. In 2017 they returned to the Cass City area. Mike had a big heart and was very giving. He enjoyed watching football and baseball on television or in person.
Mike is survived by his wife, Geraldine; children: Pamela Corcoran of Caro, Steven (Collene) Corcoran of Lake Orion, Susan Corcoran of Caro; grandchildren: Cassandra (Jonathan) Yankee, Theo Corcoran, Patrick Corcoran, Michael J. Corcoran, Kathleen Corcoran. He is preceded in death by his son, Theo Corcoran; sister, Margaret Paquette; half brothers: Daniel Corcoran and Eugene James.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Theodore Nnabugo of Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church officiating. Military honors under the direction of the Cass City VFW Post #3644 and the U.S. Army. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mike will be: Steven Corcoran, Cassandra Yankee, Theo Corcoran, Patrick Corcoran, Michael Corcoran, Kathleen Corcoran. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
