Donald Copeland

Donald L. Copeland, 60, of Cass City died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in his home. He was born February 26, 1958 in Cass City to Leonard J. and Blanche Belle (Vance) Copeland. He married Ruby Ray Betzold September 18, 1976 in Mizpah Missionary Church, Cass City.

Donald worked as a grader operator in Sanilac County for over 20 years. He enjoyed coyote hunting, listening to Classic Country music and he loved to mow the grass. Don was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed fishing and watching Tiger baseball. Don loved taking drives through the countryside and was very happy when he would spot an eagle. He was a simple man of simple pleasures. His three grandsons were his life and brought him great joy and great peace.

Donald is survived by his wife, Ruby; children: Cindy Lou Copeland of Cass City, Trevor (Ashley) Copeland of Cass City; grandchildren: Whitney, Noah and Casey; brother: Stuart Copeland of Kingston; sisters: Wilda Hodges of Bulls Gap, TN; Carol Copeland of Greenville, TN; nieces and nephews: Brenda (Terry) Betzold of Cass City; Sue (Shorty) Perry of FL; Leisha (Greg) O’Neal of Wantoberg Gap, TN; Curt (Kim) Copeland of Kingston; Lori (Robin) King of Kingston; Cari (Joe) Syms of Mt. Olive, MS; Leonard (Dawn) Betzold of Hernando, FL; many great nieces, great nephews and great great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter: Alexis Ellen Belle Carpentier; grandson: Brayden William Copeland.

Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Copeland: Curt Copeland, Robin King, Scott Meeker, Trevor Copeland, Mark Alderton and Ken Alderton. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
