FERN J. CONNELL
Fern J. Connell, 88, of Bay City, formerly of Decker, died Monday, April 14, 2008 in Carriage House Nursing Home, Bay City, following a long illness. She was born January 17, 1920 in Thurso, Quebec, Canada to Cameron and Flossie (Davis) McKenzie. She married Edsel D. Connell September 30, 1939 in Detroit. He died February 2, 2003.
Fern was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She won many blue ribbons for cakes she entered in Michigan State Fairs over the years. Fern worked at the Detroit JL Hudson store as a �"Wrapper” making beautiful bows and packages for customers. She played piano in church in Detroit beginning when she was four years old.
Fern is survived by her children: Sally Allen of Bay City, Edsel �"Bud” (Virginia) Connell II of Carmel Valley, CA; grandchildren: Kim (Kris) Carey, Kameron (Chris) Allen, Keith Allen; sister, Lois Mays of Leslie; great grandchildren: Kyle Carey, Jonathan Hurrell, Emily Hurrell, McKenzie Allen, Grace Allen. She is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bill Allen and brother-in-law, Bill Mays.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 in Kranz Funeral Home �- Cass City with Rev. John Wood of Cornerstone Baptist Church Bay City officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church Building Fund.
