Viola Coltson

Viola May Coltson, 95, of Tonawanda, NY, formerly of Cass City, died Friday, November 1, 2002 in Schofield Residence, Tonawanda, NY. She was born March 13, 1907 in Novesta Township to Clarence and Lottie (Adams) Quick. She married Basil Coltson March 4, 1929, in Cass City. He died September 11, 1994.

Viola attended Quick School and graduated from Cass City High School. She was a member of the Novesta Church of Christ, Rochester (MI) Church of Christ and Palo Verda (Tucson, AZ) Church of Christ. She was a former Garden Club member and played tournament Scrabble. Viola met Basil roller-skating in Deford and continued roller-skating until the age of 80. She was also passionate about geneology.
Viola is survived by her children: Noreen C. Andrews of Tonawanda, NY, and Roger Coltson; grandchildren: Denise Ammerman, Laureen Smith, Richard Andrews, Richard Coltson, Robert Coltson, James Coltson; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Tewsley of Centerline; brother-in-law, Elmer Gifford of Green Valley, AZ. She is preceded in death by her sisters and their husbands: Lorena (Quincy) Morley, Bernice Gifford, Inez (Joe) Snow, and Jack Tewsley.

Funeral services held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Pastor Lyle Clarke of Cass City Church of Christ officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch, Long Island, NY.
