BERTRAND HECTOR CLINCKE,
89, of Cass City died following a short illness Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit, Cass City. He was born November 19, 1929 in Belgium the fourth of eight children born to Basiel Theophiel and Irma (VanDeWalle) Clincke. He married Ghislaine Marie Maes July 21, 1956 in Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church, Detroit.
Bert was a commercial carpenter and member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union. He worked mostly in commercial concrete form work and was a union carpenter his entire working life. He retired in 1988. After retirement Bert spent his time in his beautiful workshop creating many pieces of furniture for family and friends. In 1979 Bert and Marie moved to Almont where he planted over 4000 trees on their property. Bert took great pride in his beautiful gardens and flowers. After moving to Cass City in 1999 friends encouraged him to take up golf, which he enjoyed especially the comraderie. Bert loved and appreciated the outdoors and enjoyed riding his bike all around the area. Bert was a member of Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #8892.
Bert is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Bernard (Sue) Clincke of Murfreesboro, TN; siblings: Maria Vandaele of Belgium, Agnes Vandaele of Belgium, Franciscus (Thea) Clincke of Winnipeg, Canada; many nieces and nephews. He was also a godparent of: Vera De Moor and Ray Clincke. He is preceded in death by his son, Roger G. Clincke in 1973; brothers: Roger Clincke, Joseph Clincke and Florimond Clincke and infant sister, Antoinette Clincke.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Catholic Church with Rev. Adam Maher officiating. Memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice, Northwood Meadows, Our Lady Consolata Parish or Michigan Parkinson Foundation. Pallbearers for Mr. Clincke: Bernard Clincke, Ed LaBelle, Tom Osentoski, LaVerne Rutkowski, Bob Butucel and Daryl Iwankovitsch. Interment is in Christian Memorial Gardens West, Rochester Hills.
