CHARLES WILLIAM “BUD” WRIGHT

     Charles W. “Bud” Wright, 84, of Gagetown died Saturday, October 12, 2024 in McLaren Bay Region. He was born August 19, 1940 in Highland Park to Charles W. and Mabel Irene (Koch) Wright. He married Judy Janet Joles on June 11, 1960 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Linkville. 

     Charles graduated from Cass City High School in 1959. He was employed by Evans Products and the Gagetown Elevator. He then went to work for UPS and retired thirty-four years later in 1998. During this time, he also delivered milk on the weekends. Following his retirement from UPS, Charles was a bus driver for Owendale-Gagetown Area Schools for ten years. He served as a councilman and Gagetown Village President for many years. Charles volunteered for five decades, from 1960 to 2010, as a firefighter, captain, and chief for the Elmwood Township Gagetown Fire Department. His tireless service left an indelible mark and will never be forgotten. Charles’s influence extended beyond retirement, as he shared his wisdom and always lent a helping hand. He enjoyed camping, salmon and perch fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

     Charles is survived by his wife, Judy; his children: Barbara (Herschel) Adams of Gagetown, Karen (Scott) Gaeth of Owendale, Scott (Michele) Wright of Cass City; grandchildren: Ashley (Brandon), Matthew (Tamie) Levi, Aaron (Tenishia) Zane; great grandchildren: Tori, Eli, Myah, Madalynn, Rylan, Cambree, Lauren, Avery, Jacob; great-great grandchildren: Carson, Keira; his brother, Bradley Wright of Bay City; several brothers and sisters in law; nieces and nephews; many other loving relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nathan and Esther Joles; two brothers: Roger Wright, Robert Wright.

     Funeral service held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024 in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Linkville with Pastor Chris Suggitt officiating. Interment in Elmwood Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or to Judy Wright for a memorial to be considered at a later time.
