CASIMIR A. CASE
Casimir A. Case, 91, of Cass City, formerly of Detroit, died peacefully in his home Thursday, March 20, 2008. He was born November 7, 1915 in Excelsior, PA to Kazimierz and Susan (Margicin) Szostakowski. He married Cecelia Safran April 30, 1949 in Detroit. She died November 28, 1998.
Cas served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving for a time under General Patton. After the service he worked in the Auto Industry for several years. Cas worked as a sheet metal worker in the Sign Making industry for many years. He was a big supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, North Dakota. Cas was a longtime member, former President and Board of Director member of the Detroit Theatre Organ Club. He played the organ mostly for fun and even built an organ for himself. Cas was a beautiful watercolor artist and was always fascinated by steam trains. He and his wife moved to Greenleaf Township over 30 years ago and then to Cass City in 1990. This was what he was looking for, he truly enjoyed living here and was a big supporter of the area.
Cas is survived by his brother, Edward (Joyce) Szostakowski of San Antonio, TX; nieces and nephews: Harry (Wendy) Barc, Richard (Betty) Barc, Janice (Lewis) Bradley, Susan (Jim) Barnes, Sharon (James) Patterson, Debra (Steve) Thompson, Laraine Lesley, Douglas (Lisa) Lesley; many great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Stella.
Private interment services will be held at his gravesite in St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
