JAMES LEWIS CARTER,
72, of Deford, died Thursday, September 25, 2014 in his home. He was born November 8, 1941 in Louisville, KY to James Crockett and Mary Estelle (Cave) Carter. He married his longtime love, Janet Marie Pyonk, August 25, 2005 in Deford.

Jim served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a truck driver for companies including Allied Van Lines and Arrow Salvage. He enjoyed deer hunting and especially enjoyed spending time with his buddies at deer camp.

Jim is survived by his wife, Janet; children: Marion Carter of Detroit, Donna Carter of Port Huron, Jimmy Carter of Saginaw, Lisa Carter of Dearborn, Scott Carter of Fort Wayne, IN, Tabatha (Andrew Surface) Smith of Caro, Matthew (Tonya Tracy) Carter of Deford; 17 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers: Kenneth Carter of KY, Richard (Shirley) Carter of IN, Robert Carter of KY; sister, Barbara (Kenny) Paige of KY; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Joseph Pyonk.

Funeral service held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Pastor David Cooper of Deford Community Church officiating. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery, Austin Township. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
