THOMAS ALBERT CAMPBELL
75, of Port Hope, died following a brief battle with cancer Saturday, December 12, 2020 in the comfort of his family at home. He was born March 7, 1945 in Pontiac to Alfred and Ada (Stimer) Campbell. He married Sharon Marie Profit October 18, 1969 in Trinity Methodist Church of Cass City.

Tom graduated from Waterford Kettering High School in 1963. He attended Ferris State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1967. Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam years of 1967 to 1969, during which time he played football for the Army. Tom broke his knee and wasn’t able to go to Vietnam, so he stayed stateside and performed his duties as a clerk.

Tom was employed by Pontiac Truck and Bus, assigned to material control, for seventeen years. Later, he worked as a car salesman for Wally Edgar Chevrolet of Lake Orion. In retirement, Tom and Sharon enjoyed selling t-shirts in the Port Austin Market. He lived his life to bring joy and optimism to everyone he met. Tom lived in the moment and he loved sharing many of those moments with his family.

Tom had many hobbies, most of which involved his grandchildren. He was fond of chopping wood and debating social and political issues. Tom played Bridge and enjoyed casino trips with friends. He was always willing to help other seniors learn about technology. Tom was a member of Port Austin United Protestant Church, Port Austin U & I Club, and the Port Hope Retirees. He attended bible study and was helpful at the church in many ways. Tom enjoyed bike rides on Lighthouse Road. An animal lover, there was never a hurt animal that went without his help. Recently, Tom loved watching the Farm Channel Update on Sundays. His favorite television programs included: Star Trek, Jeopardy and Hallmark movies.

Tom is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Sharon; his twin daughters: Shawn (Lance) Zoerhof of Grand Rapids; Shannon (Kevin) Zaschak of Ada; grandchildren: Averie Zaschak, Addison Zaschak, Maddox Zoerhof, Lennon Zoerhof; brother, Richard (Mary) Campbell of Leland, NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring of 2021. Interment in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Port Austin United Protestant Church or Compassus Hospice of Cass City.
