PHILIMAN MARY BURLEY,
100, of Sebewaing, formerly of Sterling Heights, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in her home. She was born May 20, 1912 in Lake Leelanau to Lujey and Emma (LaCross) Richard. She married James Martin Burley September 20, 1931 in the St. Marys Catholic Church in Karlin, Michigan. He died November 23, 1964.
Philiman grew up in the Prudenville, Michigan area moving to southern Michigan in the late 30's. Her and her husband moved to Sterling Heights where she lived for 60 years in the same house. She worked as a custodian for Warren Consolidated Schools retiring after 10 years. Philiman enjoyed crocheting, reading and playing Wahoo. She was a former member of the Our Shepherd Lutheran Church now Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Warren.
Philiman is survived by her children: Carrol Masters of Cass City, Phyllis (Phillip) Frye of Fullerton, CA, Calvin (Barbara) Burley of Centennial, CO; grandchildren: Carolyn, Denice, Harvey, Donald, Steven, Gregory, Terry, Shelley, James, Mark, Monica, Michael, Debra, Brenda, David, Timothy, Rodney; great grandchildren: Donna, Lisa, Micah, Joshua, Anthony, Harvey III, Jessica, Jeremiah, Jacob, Nicole, Amber, Christina, Stephen, Aaron, Christine, Shawn, Michael, Lindsey, Aaron, Katlyn, Naomi, Nathan, Brandon, Crystal, Amanda, Angela, Anthony, Jennifer, Christopher, Kari; many great great grandchildren; sister, Gladys Edberg of Clinton Township; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sons: Harold Burley, Donald Burley; granddaughter, Carolyn Belcher; 11 siblings.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Steven Bagnall of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Cass City officiating. Interment will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
