JUANITA PEARL BURK,
82, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 3, 2011 in Satchell’s Christian Retirement Home Caro. She was born July 2, 1928 in Orlando, Florida to Lathan and Ruby Pearl (MacClain) Barfield. She married Alvin Robert “Fin” Burk February 22, 1947 in Bowling Green, OH. He died May 20, 2002.

Juanita worked as a secretary on a military base and met her husband there. She worked for a few years for Bauer Candy Company at their Cass City distribution site. Juanita retired from Cass City Community Schools after working as the secretary at Campbell Elementary School for nearly 35 years. She was a longtime member of Shabbona United Methodist Church. After moving into Cass City Juanita began attending Cass City United Methodist Church with her dear friend, Dorothy Knight. Juanita and Fin were members of many area square dance clubs. She enjoyed square dancing, clogging, sewing and knitting.

Juanita is survived by her children: Alvin (Kathy) Burk of Venice, FL, David L. (Charlene) Burk of Delton, James (Rose) Burk of Cass City, Ruby Burk of Decker, Diane Burk of Grand Rapids; special friend, Dorothy Knight of Cass City; grandchildren: Alvin R. Burk III, Kat (Corey) Miller, Michael (Kathy) Russell, Rebecca (Chad) Farley, Angie (Dale) Truemner, Matthew (Kira) Ramsey, Amy Burk, Allen (Tammy) Burk, Maura Burg, Thomas (Jenney) Ramsey, Kimberly Ramsey, Korey Edwardson; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Ona Barfield of Kissimmee, FL; step-mother, Frances Barfield of Batesburg, SC; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Jackie Roe of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Ms. Burk are Alvin R. Burk III, Allen Burk, Mike Russell, Matthew Ramsey, Fred Burk and Robert Burk. Memorials may be made to Rawson Memorial Library, Cass City United Methodist Church, Shabbona United Methodist Church or Detroit Ronald McDonald House, 3911 Beaubien, Detroit, MI 48201.
