Alfred C. Burk, 83, of Cass City, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in Tendercare Nursing Facility, Cass City. He was born December 21, 1924 in Waldenburg to Lawrence and Edna (Harrington) Burk. He married Mary M. Johns April 5, 1947 in Cass City.
Alfred served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. He worked as a farmer, carpenter and truck driver. Alfred loved to travel and was a member of trailer clubs. He had a great love for animals and was always a farmer at heart. He was well known with area Amish families. Alfred loved to be with family, especially his grandchildren and loved his dog.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Mary Burk; children: Alfred L. (Sue) Burk of Ubly, Robert C. (Linda) Burk of Sterling Heights, Loretta Galazka of Utica; grandchildren: Kelley Burk, Kimberlee Galazka, Tiffany Burk, Aaron Burk, Matthew Galazka; great grandson, Michael Burk; sister, Ann (Jim) Brede of Utica; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Albert Burk and Alvin Burk.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2008 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Paul Donelson of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund.
