Evelyn E. Brown, 81, of Kingston died Thursday, May 2, 2013 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro. She was born February 3, 1932 in Huron County, Michigan to Alexander and Lucy (Lemanski) Konkel. She married Orval Junior Brown on September 24, 1977. He died March 16, 2012.
Evelyn had many jobs throughout her life. She worked as a short order cook at several restaurants, a cook at a nursing home in Cass City, 17 years at Hamill Mfg in Ubly, Bad Axe and Imlay City. She and Orval also worked at the Crossroad Village as tour guides and owned a concessions stand and a resale store in Bad Axe. Evelyn enjoyed gardening and canning, sewing quilts, baking birthday cakes for friends and family, playing cards and listening to country and bluegrass music.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Verna (Harry) Booms of Harbor Beach and family: Holly (Liam) Walsh, Matthew Booms, Rebecca (Jared) Socia, Darryl (Jennifer) Booms, Katie Booms and great-granddaughter, Grace; her son, Tony (Pam) Brown of Goodells and family: April (Mike)Hodgkin, Nichole Brown, Samantha (Bob) Clark and great-grandchildren: Curtlan, Zoe, Olivia, Essance, Anthony and Laylea. She is also survived by her brother, Alexander (Shirley) Konkel: sisters-in-law: Thelma Belenski and Leona Brown; special niece, Cindy (Lane) Chapin; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Raymond and Clarence; sister, Angeline.
Funeral service held Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Rev. Jackie Roe of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw. Memorials may be made to Kingston Fire and Rescue or Kingston United Methodist Church.
