ELEANOR M. BROOKS
Eleanor M. Brooks, 87, of Davisburg, formerly of Kingston and Caro, died Friday, November 16, 2007 in Genesys Hospital, Grand Blanc following a short illness. She was born May 19, 1920 in Kingston to Leland and Alice (Dorrance) Ensign. She married Frank Brooks October 15, 1938 in Caro. He died December 26, 1971.
Eleanor graduated from Caro High School in 1937 and has been on the reunion committee since graduation through their 68th reunion. She played trombone in the high school band. Eleanor worked as a typist in an abstract office for seven years. She served as a volunteer in Pontiac School District. Along with her husband, Eleanor enjoyed archery for over 30 years. She was a member of Michigan Archers Association and served as its secretary for a time. Eleanor was a member of the PTA in Pontiac, worked as a secretary with the Girl Scouts and also served as a Girl Scout and Brownie leader for many years. She was an employee with the Salvation Army for many Christmas seasons. Eleanor was very active with the senior citizen group in the Caro Senior complex.
Eleanor is survived by her children: Roberta L. (Gerald) Werle of Roscommon, S. Leroy Brooks of Ortonville, Phyllis J. (Leonard) Liedel of Ringgold, GA, Ivan G. (Angela) Brooks of Ortonville; grandchildren: Joe (Sherry) Liedel, Tom (Janet) Liedel, Kenneth (Melinda) Liedel, Christopher (Denise) Liedel, Leonard (Pamela) Liedel, Kandise Ann (Robert) Lee, Sandra Feeney, Heath Brooks, Heather (Keith) Szachta, Wendi (Michael) Hamlet; great grandchildren: Natasha, Joshua, Jeremy, Stephanie, Rachelle, Sarah, Crissy, Daniel, McKensie, Dakota, Bryan, Sidonie, Cameron, Parker; sisters: Dorothy Hudson of Zephyrhills, FL, Lee (Theda) Ensign of Caro, Marguerite (James) Caswell of Reese, Douglas (Marilyn) Ensign of Kingston; special thank you to Linda Brooks. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter-in-law, Denise Liedel.
Funeral service held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in Kranz Funeral Home Kingston. Interment will be in Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City. Pallbearers for Mrs. Brooks: Thomas Liedel, L. Scott Liedel, Joseph Liedel, Lyle Ensign, Michael Hamlett and Keith Szachta. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
