DAWN MARIE BROOKS,
44, of Sault Ste Marie died as the result of injuries sustained in an apartment fire, Friday, February 24, 2012. She was born March 9, 1967 in Los Angeles, CA to Richard E. and Paulette (LeBlanc) Brooks, Sr.
Dawn graduated from Oscoda High School. She was the first woman to work on the production floor for Huron Castings in Pigeon. Dawn worked as a store clerk at Old Orchard Park in Oscoda for several years. She enjoyed card games especially Euchre.
Dawn is survived by her daughters: Holly (Joe McDonald) Brooks of Sault Ste Marie, Janet "Tude" (Christopher Gugin) Montreuil of Toledo, OH, Monica (Christopher Snider) Montreuil of Sault Ste Marie; grandchildren: Jayden, Christopher Jr., Shawn, Kaleb, Madison; father, Richard Brooks of Cass City; special friend, Brian LaTour of Hessel; brothers: Richard (Pam) Brooks, Jr. of Cass City, Michael (Tammy Lynch) Brooks of Cass City; sisters: Melda (Jimmy) Herndon of South Carolina, Sharon Brooks of Cass City; many nieces and nephews; her children's father, Kevin Montreuil of Cass City. She is preceded in death by her mother, Paulette Brooks.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Pastor Jerry Harrington of Cass City Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
