W. LOREN BRINKMAN
W. Loren Brinkman, 83, of Southfield, died Sunday, January 7, 2007 in William Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak following a short illness. He was born November 28, 1923 in Fairgrove to Winford A. and Cathrine ‘Alberta’ (MacDougall) Brinkman. He married Vera Lounsbury November 10, 1945 in Cass City.
Loren was a 1942 Unionville High School graduate. He also attended Meinsinger Art School in Detroit. Loren served in the US Army in the military police in Vienna 1945-1946. His heart was always in farming, but he became a commercial artist. He was an owner of Skyline Studios, Inc. originally in Detroit which later moved to Southfield. In his retirement Loren loved teaching pencil drawing classes at BASCC in Birmingham. He loved people and he loved his dogs. Loren and Vera traveled extensively both in the USA and abroad.
Loren is survived by his wife, Vera; children: Michael (Colleen) Brinkman of Royal Oak, Lauren (David) Landaw of Livonia; grandchildren: Loren M. Brinkman of Charlotte, NC, Andrew G. Brinkman of Royal Oak; brothers: Charles (Roberta) Brinkman of Haslett, Robert (Betty) Brinkman of Caro, Jack (Bonnie) Brinkman of Cass City; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 in Beverly Hills United Methodist Church, 22000 W. Thirteen Mile Road, Beverly Hills. Cass City funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007 in Kranz Funeral Home with Bill Watson officiating. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church or Wisner United Methodist Church. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Military honors under the direction of US Army and Cass City VFW Post #3644. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
