James Boyce Sr

JAMES OLIVER BOYCE, SR.
James O. Boyce, Sr., 60, of Cass City died unexpectedly in his home Saturday, November 26, 2016. He was born December 19, 1955 in Holly the youngest of 14 children born to Arthur Franklin and Alice Mary (Flintham) Boyce. He married Judith Lynne Pallas August 17, 1985 in Novesta Baptist Church.
Jim served in the U.S. Army. He first worked with his dad and brothers learning roofing, siding and building. He worked for a Glass Factory and McDonalds in Flint. After moving to Cass City Jim worked for Thomas Roofing, then Caro Manufacturing working on auto and boat motors with his brother. He worked for Anrod Screen Cylinder, as a subcontractor for the Cass City Post Office, and for Active Homes before beginning his own business, Cass City Roofing and Siding. After closing his business Jim worked for Huron Castings. Jim loved construction and was always busy on projects working with family and friends. He enjoyed making things like picnic tables and wood toys. His family taught him many talents and he passed that knowledge onto his children. Jim loved tinkering with motors and fixing things. He enjoyed fishing and playing games such as checkers and Euchre with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing the lottery, always ready to buy this week's tickets. Jim loved his family, loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife, Judith; children: Misty (Steven) Shafer of Belleville, IL, Tina Pallas of Gagetown, Angela (Heith) Forster of Gagetown, James Boyce, Jr., of Cass City, Krysta Boyce of Cass City; grandchildren: Steven Shafer, Michael (Katelyn) Harp, Timothy Harp, Thomas Harp, Corbin Forster, Courtney Forster, Aubrey Boyce; great grandson, Carter Harp. Jim will also be missed by his brothers: Fred (Helen) Boyce of TX, Donald (Doris) Boyce of Bad Axe, Leslie (Etta) Boyce of NC, Charles Boyce of Bad Axe; sisters: Nancy Swanton of FL, Sharon (Brent) Myers of NV, Mary Freeman of Ubly; sister-in-law, Sandra (Dan) Widdis of Jenison; many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers: Basil Boyce, David Boyce, Richard Boyce, Gerald Boyce; sisters: Constance Bills, Shirley Oben; brothers-in-law: Lawrence Swanton, Wayne Pallas; sister-in-law, Donna Boyce; his parents, Arthur and Alice Boyce; Judy's parents: Herbert and Mary Lou Pallas.
Memorial luncheon held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in Shabbona United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with Rev. Dale Barber officiating. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
