CLARA MARGARET (DECKER) BOND
Clara M. Bond, 89, of Cass City, died Friday, August 18, 2006 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro. She was born April 3, 1917 at home in Greenleaf Township to Stephen A. and Lillian (Vogel) Decker. She married Charles E. Bond April 10, 1937 in Cass City. He died November 6, 1969.
Clara farmed with her husband and over the years she worked for Lapeer Regional Center, Eichers and Kings Dry Cleaners, Caro Regional Center, Stockyard Restaurant and Gambles. She was a member of Cass City First Presbyterian Church. Clara loved cooking, baking and gardening. She also painted china and quilted with the Elmwood Quilting Circle.
Clara is survived by her children: Bette Lou (Lynn) Hurford of Cass City, Karen (Robert) Damm of Pigeon, Susan (Chuck) Rubey of Cass City; 7 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; sister, Thelma Jackson of Ubly; sister-in-law, Helen Decker; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her step mother, Emma Decker; brother, Jerry Decker and step-brothers: Walter Nadiger and Harold Nadiger; great granddaughter, Cayla Hurford.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. David Blackburn of Cass City First Presbyterian Church officiating. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Pallbearers for Mrs. Bond are: Scott Hurford, Paul Rubey, Mark Henry II, Keith Kohtz, David Seibel and Grant Hurford.
