Louis F. Bockstanz, 87, of Cass City, formerly of Kalamazoo, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 in Hills and Dales General Hospital, Cass City. He was born August 1, 1916 in Ludington to Louis F. and Winnie (Wright) Bockstanz. He married Lois Evelyn Bosworth on August 14, 1938 at her home in Scottville.

Louis graduated from Ludington High School in 1933. He worked at the Ludington Daily News and became a journalist. He later worked at the Kalamazoo Gazette, where he retired as News Editor. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Portage. Louis and his wife moved to Cass City in 1994, where he was a member of the Cass City United Methodist Church.

Louis is survived by his wife, Lois; children: Douglas (Nance) Bockstanz of Lyons Falls, NY, David (Bonnie) Bockstanz of Deford, Delynne Bockstanz of Clinton Township; grandchildren: Courtney Bockstanz, Darcy (Tom) Layman, Hazen Bockstanz and Lori Bockstanz; great grandchildren: Carlton and Christopher Layman, Neva, Levon and Max Bockstanz; siblings: Ernie Bockstanz of Kalamazoo, Leila (Chuck) Brockstead of Muskegon; sister-in-law, Betty Bockstanz of Kalamazoo. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Glenn (Carol), Irving; sister-in-law, Wilma.

Funeral services held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2003 at Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. George Ward officiating. In leiu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cass City United Methodist Church.

Visitation: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2003 in church
