MARGARET DELORES BATTEL
Margaret D. Battel, 82, of Cass City, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 in Tendercare, Cass City after a short illness. She was born May 13, 1922 in Bay City to William and Mary (Gibson) Cowan. She married Lester J. Battel October 23, 1954 in Kawkawlin. He died December 18, 1989.
Margaret retired in 1984 after 18 years as a Cass City Public Schools Bus Driver. She was in fellowship at Hillside Gospel Hall. Margaret was happily married to Lester for over 35 years. She liked crocheting, sewing, and tending her flower garden. Her family was very important to her.
Margaret is survived by her children: Linda (Michael) Stec of Cass City, Paul (Mary) Battel of Cass City; grandchildren: Brandon, Preston, and Shannon Stec, Isaiah and Josiah Battel; twin sister, Mable Kay of Marshall; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers: Charles, Dave, Kenneth, John, and George Cowan.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with William Lavery of Ferndale and William Metcalf of Sarnia, Ontario officiating. Interment in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Pallbearers for Mrs. Battel: Brandon Stec, Preston Stec, Isaiah Battel, Josiah Battel, Mark Martin, Jeff Martin.
