MARILYN JEAN BARRY,
80, of Cass City, died Monday, May 6, 2013 in Hills & Dale General Hospital, Cass City. She was born September 7, 1932 in Vassar to Leland and Margaret (DeWeerd) Wellemeyer. She was raised on the Wellemeyer Apple Orchard which began and nurtured her love of nature and the out doors.

Marilyn graduated from Albion College in 1954 with a Bachelor of Art degree. She then graduated from University of Michigan in 1956 with a Masters degree in Art History. Marilyn was an elementary school teacher in Detroit Public Schools for many years, where she shared her love of art with her students. She began her second career in advertising sales. Marilyn shared her love of horses through Tamarack Arabian Horse Farm where she used her creative talent to excel in costume class horse shows throughout the state. She enjoyed gardening and reading.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters: Michelle (John Lewis) Lamb of Freeland, Elizabeth Ann Depner of Cass City, Katherine (Glen) Herman of Riley; grandchildren: James (fiancé Sarah Maday) Lamb, Chelsea Lena Depner, Holly Herman, Tiffany Herman, Nicole Herman. She is preceded in death by her sister, Sally Albrecht.

Memorial service held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Carol Ball officiating. Interment will be in Vassar Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
