VERA MAE BARRONS,
85, of Wilmot died Friday October 4, 2019 in Covenant Healthcare Cooper Campus, Saginaw. She was born November 28, 1933 in Delavan, Illinois to Charles and Verna (Stevens) Becker. She married Robert Lewis Barrons June 29, 1957 in the Congregational Church in Imlay City. He died August 20, 2016.
Vera graduated from Central Michigan University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught home economics in Imlay City Schools. Together, Vera and Robert owned and operated Barrons Cafe in Peck before moving to Wilmot. In Wilmot, they owned Barrons Grocery and Antiques and later moved the business to Kingston as Barrons Antiques. She taught in the Kingston school system as a third-grade teacher, a high school science and home economics teacher, and tutored students. Vera also worked in the school kitchen. She loved sewing, antiques and time spent with her beloved grandson.
Vera is survived by her son, Greg (Teri) Barrons of Wilmot; grandson, Joseph Barrons of Wilmot; brother, Mervin Becker of Applegate; sister, Stella Becker of Applegate; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brothers: Ben (Virginia) Becker, Gene (Carol) Becker, Orville Becker; sister, Doloris (Alfred) Davis.
Memorial service held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Kingston Wesleyan Church with Rev. Len Wyatt officiating. Memorials may be made to Kranz Funeral Home for the benefit of the family. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and photos with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
