ROBERT LEWIS BARRONS,
89, of Wilmot died following a long illness Saturday, August 20, 2016 in his home with his family by his side. He was born March 21, 1927 at home in Wilmot to Joseph Lewis and Mabel (Rounds) Barrons. He married Vera Mae Becker June 29, 1957 in the Congregational Church in Imlay City.
Bob worked for the Caro Dry Cleaner and the Imlay City Dry Cleaner before his marriage to Vera. Together they operated the Barrons' Cafe in Peck. They eventually opened the Barrons' Grocery Store in Wilmot which became Barrons' Grocery and Antique Store. After a time Bob bought the former Harmon Funeral Home and Furniture Store on Main Street in Kingston and began Barrons' Antiques. The business operated until its closing in 2014. Bob loved studying and learning about British and English history and the Royal Family. He enjoyed traveling even though early vacations turned into buying trips as the family stopped at antique stores along the way. Bob bought his first antique when he was nine years old, thus starting a lifelong love for antiques. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Lexington.
Bob is survived by his wife, Vera; son, Greg (Teri) Barrons of Wilmot; grandson, Joseph Barrons of Wilmot; nephew, Jerry (Mavis) Hurshburger of Bay City. Bob is preceded in death by his sister, Ada Hurshburger; half brother, Eugene Rounds and his granddog and loving companion, Boo.
Funeral service held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in Trinity Episcopal Church, Lexington with Rev. Kay Houck officiating. Memorials may be made to Cass River Pet Friendz. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
