JAMES THEODORE BALLAGH
James T. Ballagh, 89, of Ubly, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 in Hills & Dales Hospital. He was born August 28, 1918 at home on the farm to William J. and Mabel (Smith) Ballagh. He married Stella P. Gryskiewicz December 14, 1941 in Bowling Green, OH. She died January 27, 2007.
Jim was a lifetime dairy farmer. He was a member of the Grange and NFO. He served on the Board of Review of Sheridan Township for many years. Jim was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church. He served as an officer of the St. Columbkille Ushers Club and served on the church board. He was a Detroit Tigers fan and was a member of the card club for many years. Jim and Stella went dancing every Saturday in their younger years.
Jim is survived by his children: William (Diane) Ballagh of Dexter, James (Cheryl) Ballagh of Oxford, Kathleen (Alan) Milligan of Cass City, Marilou (Thomas) Barszczowski of Dearborn, David (Colleen Mouton) Ballagh of Ubly; grandchildren: Tommy, Dawn, Jennifer, Todd, Trent, Christy, Jackie; great grandchildren: McLean, Ian, Alexis, Luke, Claire, Ella, and Grant; sisters-in-law: Fay Ballagh of Cass City, Rita Seidel of Shamokin, PA, Val Cahill of Glendora, NJ; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by brothers: Earl Ballagh, Clare Ballagh, Harold Ballagh; sisters: Ella Mae Wagner, Beatrice McDowell.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in St. Columbkille Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Griffin, officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Columbkille Catholic Church. Jim will be buried next to his wife in St. Columbkille Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Ballagh: Todd Milligan, Matt Hanson, Steve Allison, Trent Milligan, Tim Davis, Tommy Barszczowski, Tim Shepherd.
