Robert D. Bader, 73, of Cass City, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005 in Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro. He was born October 6, 1931 in Snover to Lloyd L. and Irene H. (McNaughton) Bader. He married Shirley Watson September 25, 1954 in Cass City.
Bob served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean War. He worked for Marlette Coach until he bought Village Service Center with Floyd Kennedy in 1969. Bob sold the gas station in 1988 and continued to work there until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Shabbona United Methodist Church, Cass City Laymen Club, Two Cylinder Club, and Cass City VFW Post #3644. Bob was active with Bay Shore Camp and an avid volunteer for Youth For Christ. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, John Deere tractors and listening to Gospel music.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley; children: Gary (Cindy) Bader of Cass City, Bill (Celeste) Bader of Deford, Phil (Brenda) Bader of Findlay, OH, Sherry Bader of Cass City, Jeff Bader of Kingston; grandchildren: Nick Bader, Aaron Bader, Tyler Bader, Dustin Bader, Steffin Bader, Amy Bader, Renee Bader; brother, Dale (Sandra) Bader of Cass City; sisters: Marjorie (Arthur) Caister of Cass City, Helen (Newell) Hubbard of Kingston, Donna (Gerald) Auten of Cass City, Wanda (Ronald) Parrott of Troy, Audrey Halas of Royal Oak; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005 in Shabbona United Methodist Church with Rev. Ellen Burns of Shabbona United Methodist Church and Jeff Bader of Youth For Christ officiating. Memorials may be made to Shabbona United Methodist Church Building Fund, Bay Shore Camp or Youth For Christ. Interment in Elkland Township Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Bader are his grandchildren.
