Etta Auten

ETTA MAE AUTEN Etta M. Auten, 89, of Cass City, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit after a short illness. She was born February 2, 1916 at home in Novesta Township to John R. and Hattie (Ashby) Collins. She married Kenneth J. Auten March 19, 1934 in Caro. He died December 7, 1954. Etta worked for Owendale Industries beginning in the mid 1940’s, for about 10 years. She then worked for Cass City Manufacturing and General Cable. Etta retired from General Cable in 1973 after over 13 years. She loved to sew and do needlework. Her flower gardens were second to none. Etta was a member of the Cass City United Methodist Church. Etta is survived by her children: Kathleen Warner of Vassar and Gerald (Donna) Auten of Cass City; grandchildren: Suzanne Frazier, Mark Warner, Donald (Regina) Warner, David (ElizaBeth) Warner, Darlene (Riggs) Bedford, Jul Ann (Ronald) Kuenzli, Colleen (Terry) Sweeney and Geraldine Auten; great grandchildren: Megan, Brett, Ellie, Nathalie, Erin-Shea, Andrea, Holly, Jennifer, Rebecca, Heather, Emily, and Katelyn; Etta’s first great great grandchild is due any day; sister-in-law, Mary Collins of North Branch; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Arthur Warner; grandson, Paul Arthur Warner; grandson-in-law, Donald Frazier; brother, Charles Collins. Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2005 in Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. George Ward officiating. Interment in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Memorials may be made to Cass City United Methodist Church or United Hospice of Marlette. Active pallbearers for Mrs. Auten are: Brett Frazier, David Warner, Mark Warner, Don Warner, Terry Sweeney, Ron Kuenzli. Honorary pallbearer, Riggs Bedford.
