GLADYS MARIE ROBINSON ANTHES,
88, of Cass City, died following a long illness, Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in Northwood Meadows Medical Care Unit, Cass City. She was born October 30, 1923 in Cass City to Harold Edward and Mabel Lucille (Albrant) Dickinson. She married Clifford Robinson February 25, 1941 in Ubly. He died September 22, 1986. She later married Albert James Anthes September 4, 1988 in Cass City.

Gladys worked at the former Caro State Hospital, Huron County Medical Care Facility, and Cass City Hospital as a Nurse Attendant. Gladys was a 4-H leader in Huron County for 25 years. She touched and guided many members in so many ways through all 4-H projects. She taught many classes through 4-H for the fairs, talent acts and horseclub activities. The most recent clubs being Midnight Riders and Fun Flowers. Gladys loved clowns and clowning. She attended many clown workshops and provided her own workshops for others through 4-H. She was very instrumental in providing entertainment for the Thumb Electric Days in Ubly and Caro Regional Center (Wahjamega). Gladys served as a volunteer at elementary schools in Arcadia, FL for many winters. Gladys was a former member of Ubly Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School. She attended Cass City United Methodist Church. Gladys was an artist using many mediums for her paintings and drawings including oil paint, watercolors, pencils, and charcoals. She took many art classes while in Florida. She wrote many poems and short stories having some published in the Senior News, Michigan Farmer and Christian Magazine.

Gladys is survived by her husband, Albert Anthes of Cass City; children: Philip (Sandra) Robinson of Cass City, Larry (Sharon) Robinson of Caro, Kevin (Clarice) Robinson of Ubly, Rebecca (Kevin) O'Connor of Minden City; grandchildren: Annette (Rob) Brown, Gary Robinson, Edward Robinson, Connie (Jerry) Ezell, Vicky Robinson, Laura Robinson, Luanne (Scott) Shaw, Tracy Robinson, Chris Robinson, Danny (Ashlie) O'Connor and Shane O'Connor; great grandchildren: Brent, Haley, Nora, Evan, Caleb, Derrek, Timmy, Ryan and Zoey; half-sister, Judy Esckilsen of Cass City; brother, Dick (Marilee) Turner of Saginaw; sister, Dorothy Dickinson of Norway, MI; sister-in-law, Marge Dickinson of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sons: Daniel Robinson and Dennis Robinson; sister, Marion Ozorowicz; brother, Harlan Dickinson.

Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Rev. Jackie Roe of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. Pallbearers for Mrs. Anthes: Dan O'Connor, Shane O'Connor, Chris Robinson, Gary Robinson, Eddie Robinson, and Dan Dickinson. Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary for the benefit of Home and Hospice Advantage or Northwood Meadows.
