DANIEL ALEKSINK, JR.,
76, of Cass City, died following a short illness Friday, January 25, 2013 in McLaren Bay Region, Bay City. He was born February 3, 1936 in Cass City to Daniel and Catherine (Henzarek) Aleksink. He continued to live in Cass City his entire life.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Dan worked as an Electrician for General Motors and many other projects including the original construction of the now Tendercare building. Dan was also a talented builder who built his own home. He was a pilot and flight instructor who flew out of Caro and even had his own airstrip on his father's farm. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; especially hunting and fishing trips to Alaska with his brother-in-law, George.
Dan is survived by his sister, Pauline Popa of Troy; nephews: George S. (Jessica) Popa, Jr. of Canton, David (Cristi) Popa of Canton; great nieces: Isabella, Emily, Katelyn and Gabriela; great nephew, Jakob. Dan is also survived by his uncle, Anthony Aleksink, Sr. of Cass City; his special friend and companion, Debora Dehmel of Cass City; and his many friends and neighbors who have touched his life. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, George S. Popa Sr.
Memorial service held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ officiating. Interment is in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorials may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Michigan Chapter, 1421 E. 12 Mile Road, Madison Heights, MI 48071.
