Dave Ackerman

Dave D. Ackerman, 94, of Cass City, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, in Hills and Dales General Hospital, Cass City. He was born June 19, 1909, in Mt. Pleasant to Jacob and Ida Louise (Foell) Ackerman. He married Emma J. Hadeway August 11, 1935, in Flint.
Dave was a high school history teacher for 44 years. He taught in Fairgrove, Chesaning and retired from Cass City Public Schools. He was active in the Cass City Education Association, serving as president, secretary and also negotiator with the board. He was a member of the Cass City First Presbyterian Church. Dave was a gardener, specializing in roses, and an avid collector of carnival glass.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Emma; children: Sharon (Raymond) Laursen of Fairgrove, David (Charlotte) Ackerman of Midland, Edward Ackerman of East Lansing, Scott (Beth) Ackerman of Cass City; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2004, in Cass City First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Blackburn officiating. Memorials may be made to Cass City First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
